Our waitress was patient with us as we waited on a friend. The chips were great. Very light, airy, and crispy. I liked the salsa. A friend ordered the guacamole and it was very creamy and good. I got the chicken and rice. The chicken was grilled and there was plenty of queso on the chicken and rice. Would eat here again!
My favorite dish is the fish taco! Haven't had one in a while, so craving it. Stopped at the Phil's in Madison and ate by myself, which I don't ever do!! That's how bad I wanted one... Best ever! Stop and try it for lunch!
The food is awesome. Visit anytime for lunch or dinner but make sure and walk around to check out the decor. Phil's is authentic Mexican food. The specials on the last day we visited were Mango Salad with grilled chicken and Ribs with fries. They were delicious.
I just had the best lunch here. I HIGHLY recommend the chicken fajitas and spicy salsa. The tortillas are made fresh to order and the food was very well cooked and seasoned. Jesus was our server and he did an exceptional job! The restaurant itself is beautiful and you can tell every part of it has been thoughtfully selected by the owners - including the different ceilings(!) in each section of the restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful meal, I will definitely be back!
Went in for late lunch. All good, service, food and cleanliness. Last visit was at lunch - place was crowded and food was rushed. Not this visit. Everything was hot and well presented. Actually more food than we expected and didn't make it to 'clean plate club' status. Pleasantly surprised at this visit.
I have nothing bad to say. Drinks were very good and properly made (alcohol wise). Fresh made tortillas, great chips and salsa, a kind server, and all for an inexpensive price. I will be back every weekend!!
This was my first time at the restaurant since I’m from out of town, and I loved it! The drinks were amazing the margarita flights were my favorite. Each flavor was so tasty and fun to try. Everything was super fresh and well made. The service was also great very friendly and quick. The staff made me feel really welcome. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town!
In the former Buenavista Mexican Cantina, Phil's did a number on renovation and totally transformed the place. My wife did notice they took down those huge lights hanging from the ceiling (which we liked btw), in place of industrial lights. Overall, the place looks great though. The restaurant wasn't busy when we visited. Mind you, it wasn't dead either. Everything looked and tasted familiar on the menu. Still the same thin chips that break easily. The salsa, cheese dip, and guacamole were familiarly spot on. Still on the menu as well, is the cheese covered chicken tamale which I had. Overall service was good, and the food was great.
